    6-12th Band

    Susan Crane has a passion for connecting young people and music. She believes that the next generation of school musicians will be trained and skilled in a hybrid of traditional music education and music technology incorporating contemporary music of diverse cultures.  She is in her fifth year of teaching instrumental music at BRCS and has previously taught instrumental and choral classes in the Hinsdale, Franklinville and Portville school districts. She has been a long-term music adjunct at St. Bonaventure, Jamestown Community College and Nyack College in Nyack, New York. She is a certified woodwind adjudicator for the New York State School Music Association.

    Mrs. Crane's degree is in Flute Performance from the State University of New York at Buffalo where she studied with Robert Dick. She also studied saxophone with Joe Viola at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has performed in Germany, Austria, Italy, Sicily, Mexico, Jamaica, Canada, Peru and the US. She has written and directed two musicals that were performed at Carroll Studios in New York City. She has been recorded on several gospel albums including the Time Square Church “Revival on Broadway.” She has won the National Flute Association ‘s Jazz Big Band Competition twice culminating in performances in Charlotte, NY and Minneapolis, MN. 

    Presently Mrs. Crane is taking graduate courses in film scoring composition, music technology and multi-media at the Berklee College of Music. She enjoys biking with her husband and spending time with her family.
