Superintendent's Message

  • Dear Students, Parents, Faculty, Staff, and Members of the Bolivar-Richburg Community:

So far this winter we have had a pretty light snow year here in the Allegany valley of Bolivar-Richburg, and again we have reached the halfway point of a busy school year. As a District, we continue to encourage our students to work hard and excel inside and outside of the classroom in sports, on the stage, and throughout our community.  The Wolverine spirt is running high and as a community we have a lot to be proud of.

    School Budget Preparation:

The Board of Education and the administrative team are beginning to develop the budget for the 2020-2021 school year.  We will focus on balancing academics and interscholastic sports, the fine arts, and after-school programs, while maintaining the long-range financial stability of the District.  I’m confident we will be able to reach these goals, with minimal impact on the local taxpayers.

Our number one priority is to provide a well-balanced educational experience for all of our students.  In the upcoming school year, we will increase academic support in our classrooms.  I encourage you to attend our Community Forum on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the secondary building.

    Capital Project:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the voters who came out in November to vote on our Capital Improvement Project.  Although the vote was not successful, we were able to obtain voter feedback in the form of an exit poll.  The Board of Education’s Facilities Committee, the representative of Clark Patterson Lee Architects, and I have reviewed your comments and we are working to incorporate them into a revised proposal.

This future project will focus on several key areas including repairing and improving building infrastructure needs such as; roofs, heating units, and parking lot repairs.  We will also look at improving building security and developing an instructional technology Maker-Space S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) lab within our buildings, and updating other instructional areas to help improve student learning.

We will be hosting a series of public forums including a building walk through with regard to the project proposal.

The Bolivar-Richburg Board of Education, faculty, staff, and administration would like to extend best wishes for the new year.  We understand and appreciate the trust and support that you give our district on a daily basis.  We accept this enormous responsibility by continually striving to educate all students, growing our programming (academic, curricular, character, and extracurricular), and developing each and every child to be the best they can be.

    Respectfully,
